Iran starts TV channel for western audience
Iran launched an English-language news channel on Monday designed to broadcast Tehran’s message to a western audience.wow power leveling gas detector
Mohammad Sarafraz, the deputy head of state broadcaster IRIB and in charge of the new venture, Press TV, told Shargh newspaper that the aim was to fill the “gap” in communicating Iran’s official message to the world.

Over the past 12 months the US has pressed international banks to avoid dollar transactions with Iran, and the United Nations Security Council has agreed measures designed to persuade Tehran to suspend almost all its nuclear activities.

Tehran is also accused of fomenting insurgency in neighbouring Iraq and Afghanistan.

The official launch of Press TV esterday included footage of last summer’s Israel-Lebanon conflict and developments in Iran’s nuclear programme.
Press TV has three correspondents in Iran and outside, including in Washington, New York and London, most of whom are western.
The new channel is scheduled to have three one-hour live round table debates on developments in the Middle East, the US and its foreign policy and developments in other parts of the world. wow powerleveling fibreclay
It is also planning to show important domestic press conferences live, including weekly press conferences of the foreign ministry spokesman.
There are no figures available for how much has been invested in the the project.
IRIB, which is accountable to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, created Al-Alam, a 24-hour Arabic channel, in 2003 after the US invasion of Iraq to target Arabic-speaking viewers in the Middle East, in particular Iraqis.
